UPVC Replacement Door Handles
As time passes the handles on your doors will wear down and require replacement. It is essential to match the dimensions of the handles you have previously replaced when replacing them.
The top screw's location the lever, and the keyhole dimensions are the three measurements that you need to verify. Check the size guide for assistance in this.
Inline Lever/Lever
A lever handle is a modern door handle designed to work with new or replacement doors. This type of handle is available in a variety of styles and finishes. A variety of manufacturers provide this handle, including Avocet ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.
Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle
The door handles made of uPVC/Composite are made of robust materials and are ideal for multi-point lock doors that require a strong design. The handles are inline and work off the same spindle and screw fixings. They are easily installed on existing or new uPVC/Composite doors.
The handle can be placed and angled to accommodate all users. The handle has been tested for endurance up to 200,000 cycles. This helps ensure that the quality of finish and performance will last for a long time. The sprung lever is adjustable to fit a broad range of locks. This is particularly beneficial in doors with smaller door frames in which the cylinder is further back. A lever that is shorter can be used for doors that have a latch which can be operated with the thumb on the inside.
Lever Pad
A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc functions differently than lever handles found on most doors. These handles are operated by one spindle, or two spindles, either inline or offset. They are usually utilized on UPVC doors with double glazing. They are available in a range of finishes & variations.
The handles have been tested to a minimum of 200k cycles and are available in several finishes, including White and Silver, as well as Chrome & Gold. The finish meets BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, thereby giving the handle a high level of durability and performance for its intended use.
All UPVC levers for handles include a spindle and screws and can be mounted on a uPVC door. The 211mm backplate fixing centres allow for a larger handle, which is often a benefit when replacing a faulty or worn multi point door lock mechanism. These handle levers are also spring-loaded, thereby solving the issue of handles hanging out of the horizontal position when they are not being used.
When selecting a replacement UPVC handle and spindle it is crucial to match the dimensions of the PZ on the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC door. This measurement is also referred to as the handle centre or 'cylinder centres and is an essential aspect to match the appropriate handles.
When you have the right PZ size, you'll be required to make sure that the handle lever pads and push pads are a suitable shape for the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) approved handles you require for your doors. They typically have a square or round shape, with an internal lever and an external push pad.
Most of the UPVC lever pads we sell are sprung, meaning that they will return to their horizontal position when not being used, instead of hanging out and possibly sticking in the frame. This stops draughts and cold air from entering a home. The majority of UPVC lever pad style handles are available in left and right handed versions which allows them to be put on either side of the doors.
door handle repair can be found on uPVC and other kinds of doors. They operate by using a key that unlock a cylinder that will reveal pins that can be aligned to those in the lock body, allowing them to turn an revolving cam, opening the door. Euro cylinders can be equipped with up to six pins, with both internal and external doors usually needing different levels of security.
The choice of cylinder is crucial. It is based on the amount of use your doors and handles receive. For instance, doors that are external should be fitted with a higher security cylinder, whilst internal doors can be secured using an ordinary cylinder. Certain cylinders come with extra features that can increase security, such as anti drill or anti bump properties.
A euro cylinder should be measured correctly to ensure that it is the correct size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the hole for fixing screws in the middle to the other end of the cylinder, including the thumb turn if you have one. It is recommended to do this with the lock in place however when this isn't possible, you can remove it to measure. A cylinder that extends beyond the handle and escutcheon may be vulnerable to attacks, such as snapping locks, therefore it is essential that it's not too long.
The design of most newer cylinders has anti-drilling and bump resistance features. These are designed to reduce the chances of an attack by causing the cylinder to rotate in a different direction. This can to deflect attacks and ensure your door is secure.
Some cylinders are designed to withstand snapping. This is a typical attack on cylinders. A specially designed tool is used to break the break line of the lock, and then the front of cylinder is snapped off. This is a much faster and easier way to gain access than using the use of a multipoint locking system. It also leaves no evidence of the break-in which can delay insurance claims.
Spring Cassette
The spring cassette is positioned inside the base of the door handle backplate, supplying a spring-loaded solution and returning the multipoint lock handles back to their rest position after use. The handles were previously equipped with no spring and would droop when the locking mechanism was disengaged. This simple part is the most effective way to fix this problem. It also stops your door from getting stuck in the closed or open position, as they are difficult to close manually.
These spring cassettes were created to be used with sprung multipoint locks. They will not fit handles that aren't sprung, and you will have to cut a hole into your backplate for them to fit. (Please check the image for a more detailed diagram). These cassettes can be used as a replacement to damaged or missing cassettes on the backplate of uPVC door handles. They have an elongated square that accommodates an 8mm spindle and are sold as a set.
These spring cassettes are a great value for money way to fix the problem of door handles that are that are sagging. They are simple to install and will prolong the lifespan of your uPVC doors.
